Column widths are calculated automatically from each column's actual content, the same way a well-built printed report would be laid out, instead of forcing every column to the same fixed width regardless of whether it holds a two-digit number or a long product description. Wide spreadsheets with many columns are handled with a smaller, denser font so more fits per page rather than columns being awkwardly cut off, and you can override the page orientation manually — Portrait or Landscape — if a particular sheet needs it, with Auto making the right call by default based on how many columns it detects.

Long tables that run past a single page automatically continue onto the next page with the header row repeated at the top, exactly the behavior you'd expect from a proper printed report — so a 300-row sheet stays fully readable across however many pages it takes.
