ProCutOut

About the Platform

Empowering creators with privacy-first web utilities

ProCutOut is a collection of free tools for everyday file jobs: removing backgrounds, compressing images and PDFs, converting formats, trimming video and doing quick calculations. Too many sites for these jobs ask for an account, add a watermark or upload your files without saying so. We built single-purpose tools that work in your browser wherever that is possible, and we explain plainly where they do not.

Private by default

Most tools run in your browser, so those files are never uploaded. These use our server: Background Remover, Image Upscaler, AI YouTube Content Planner, DNS Lookup, and the optional AI steps in the Passport Photo tools, Logo Background Remover and Photo Enlarger. Uploaded images are deleted automatically; the Privacy Policy lists how long each is kept.

No sign-up, no waiting room

No registration, no captcha and no upsell queue. Open a tool and use it. Tools that run on our server can take longer when many people are using them.

No watermarks, free to use

Results carry no logo or stamp. The tools are free; we pay for hosting through advertising, which on this website is limited to our guides and never placed next to a tool.

No account required

Open any tool and start immediately. We do not require emails, passwords, credit cards, or trial periods that expire.

Methodology

Published research & model foundations

Our machine learning and document processing tools build upon established, peer-reviewed computer vision and document processing research:

Background Remover

BiRefNet General Lite (dichotomous image segmentation)

Research Context: Our background remover runs the BiRefNet model on a 512-pixel copy of your photo and applies the result to your original pixels. Edge quality varies with contrast, subject and hair or fur detail.

“Bilateral Reference for High-Resolution Dichotomous Image Segmentation” — Zheng, P., Gao, D., Fan, D.-P., Liu, L., Laaksonen, J., Ouyang, W., & Sebe, N. (CAAI Artificial Intelligence Research, 3, 9150038, 2024)

Image Upscaler

ClearRealityV1, built on the SPAN super-resolution network

Research Context: Our upscaler enlarges images 2x with ClearRealityV1, a model trained on real photographs and based on the SPAN architecture. It infers detail rather than recovering it, and processing time grows with the size of the upload.

“Swift Parameter-free Attention Network for Efficient Super-Resolution” — Wan, C., Yu, H., Li, Z., Chen, Y., Zou, Y., Liu, Y., Yin, X., & Zuo, K. (IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Workshops (CVPRW), 2024)
Technology Stack

Open-source engines & privacy principles

Our technology stack relies on established, peer-reviewed open-source libraries and transparent privacy practices:

Client-Side Processing

Privacy-First Architecture

Short-Retention Design

Browser tools process files locally in device memory with no upload. The two image tools that run on our server delete uploads within an hour and results within six.

Browser Sandboxing

W3C WebAssembly Technology

World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)

In-browser execution operates inside standard browser-isolated WebAssembly memory, ensuring image and PDF conversions remain strictly local to your machine.

Open-Source PDF Stack

Mozilla PDF.js & pdf-lib

Open-Source Community

PDF rendering, merging, splitting, and page management rely on mature, open-source libraries that parse documents directly on your device.

Open-Source ML Runtime

ONNX Runtime Engine

Open-Source AI Foundation

Neural network inference for background removal and upscaling is powered by the open-source ONNX Runtime for consistent cross-platform execution.

Editorial Standards

How our guides are made

Our guides are built on measurements from our own tools, not on copied advice. We also use AI assistants to help draft and edit text and code, and we say so openly. The full policy, including how we test, how we check facts, how we use AI and how to ask for a correction, is on the Editorial Policy page.

Measured on our own tools

File sizes, accuracy figures and limits come from scripts that run our real tools. Each guide says what we tested and what we did not.

AI use is disclosed

AI helps with drafting; it does not supply results. Numbers come from our tests and official sources, and our cover images are drawn by code, not generated by AI.

Named and correctable

Every guide names the person responsible, shows when it was last verified, and can be corrected: write to us and we will check and fix it.
