Audio Tools
Cut, merge, convert and enhance audio files without uploading.
Which tool do I need?
Audio tools for changing a format, shrinking a file and cutting a clip. Audio is converted and edited in your browser, so voice notes and recordings stay on your device.
Use the Audio Converter when an app or device will not accept your file type, and the MP3 Compressor when the format is fine but the file is too big, for instance a voice note that will not attach to an email. Use the Audio Trimmer to cut silence, or to take a short clip or ringtone from a longer track. Trim before you compress, because silence costs bits too.
The Audio Bitrate Calculator does the sum in advance: it turns a bitrate and a length into a file size, or finds the bitrate that fits a limit, so you can plan an export without trial and error. If the sound you want is inside a video, use Extract Audio From Video instead. Keep your original recording when you can, because MP3 is lossy and each new encode throws a little more away.

Questions
- What MP3 bitrate should I use?
- 64–96 kbps is fine for speech, 128 kbps for casual music listening, and 192–320 kbps for music you care about. A 3-minute song is about 2.9 MB at 128 kbps.
- Does converting to MP3 lose quality?
- Yes, a little: MP3 is lossy. Converting from WAV at 192 kbps or more is hard to tell apart; converting one MP3 to another MP3 loses a bit each time, so start from the original.
